The holiday diary idea stems from a noble intention to encourage children to step away from technology and engage in more traditional family activities that foster interaction and bonding among family members. In today's digital age, where smartphones and tablets often dominate our attention, the holiday diary serves as a creative tool to bring families together and create lasting memories.
By documenting experiences, thoughts, and feelings in a physical diary, children can develop their writing skills, reflect on their experiences, and strengthen relationships through shared experiences. This initiative not only promotes a healthier balance between screen time and real-life interactions but also encourages creativity, communication, and mindfulness.
Through the holiday diary, children can learn the value of storytelling, self-expression, and active listening as they share their adventures with their family members. Ultimately, the holiday diary idea seeks to rekindle the joy of spending quality time together, fostering a sense of togetherness, and creating a treasure trove of memories that can be cherished for years to come.
"We picked up one of your holiday diaries for our 4 year old while spending 5 days in Matlock. He really enjoyed writing his holiday diary and it was a good hour activity each morning, doing lots of learning in a fun way without him realising" Alison from Cambridge
Alison bought her diary from Crich Tramway Village.
"I took Mr Monks Yorkshire holibobs diary when I recently went on holiday with my family and 4 year old nephew Jack.
Everyday we filled in the diary and Jack told Mr Monks about his adventures on holiday.
We loved the games and activities in the book, especially colouring in the stained glass window and now Jack wants to colour everyday!
Jack says the diary is amazing and wants to know if Mr Monks can come on our next holiday.
A lovely way to spend some time together and save memories of our families holiday together, thank you Mr Monks, we will definitely be taking you again next time.
Jack & Natalie."
